Why Ignore dogs?

My girl doesn't like PDA (public displays of affection) or what we've called drive-by petting. The second a hand from a stranger moves towards her, she ducks and moves away. She simply doesn't want to be touched by random people walking past us.

Penny

“We both like to be ignored when we’re out walking. My boy was attacked at a park and can be reactive to dogs he hasn’t been properly introduced to. So many people walk their dogs off leash where they shouldn’t and it just adds to the pressure when there’s potential dogs coming up in his face unwanted and unnecessarily. He is also very protective when it’s just me walking him, so can be wary of men walking our way that make eye contact with him, but when he’s ignored, Charlie is absolutely amazing!”

Tulip is so cute and fluffy that everyone wants to say hello. The only problem is that she is fearful of strangers and reactive. One bad experience can set her back for months! She says politely "please ignore me". If you don't heed her warning she will tell you again but in less polite terms!

Our sweet Dalmatian girl is trying to learn to ignore and not jump on people in public, and it is kinda hard to do when they are all wanting to interact with her! Our other Dalmatian behaves beautifully on leash as long as people leave us alone, but is fear reactive towards people and dogs that he doesn't know approaching and trying to touch him.

Abby is 11 months old and a bundle of energy. We're working on people and dogs passing us on walks being boring, and focus on me instead. Please, Ignore my dog.

My boy Toa likes to be ignored - he is nervous of little people, big dogs and men. He hates being stared at and not keen on pats and over excited attention from humans or dogs unless it's his family and his doggy best friends. He is best when ignored so he can suss things out in his own time.
